Submarine Battery Monitoring System OMI-BMS2
Ordtech manufactures a retrofit system OMI-BMS2 for any type of submarine battery, provided it is using 2 Volt elements, which permits monitoring of the charge level of the battery. The system is compatible with most types of submarines and is already in operational use. It requires no modification to the battery system and does not affect any of the operational or functional parameters.

OMI-BMS2 system is capable to monitor the voltage of each cell of a cluster of
accumulators (480 pcs) of the submarine and to record the Charge and Discharge curve
of each cell. Use of the system offers the advantage of reliable measurements without
the probable human errors and also the ability to record data onto a computer. The
system is classed as an intelligent system and enables the ability to issue Alarm
Signals to the user when there are deviations from specified values of the battery
manufacturer.
The expansion capability of the system ensures possibility to integrate measurements
of other non parameters of the accumulators cluster (battery) such as: Temperature,
Output Current, Electrolyte Level, etc. The system offers the following benefits:
elimination of the need to have "man-in-the-loop" (which is the current
practice), reliability, rapid measurement, monitoring of specified vs actual curves,
issue of alarms, etc.
In comparison manual measurements registering and recording requires 1.5 hours while
OMI-BMS2 system requires few miliseconds.

Measured Parameters:
| Cell Voltage | 0 – 3 Volts |
| Reference Voltage | 3 Volts |
| Precision of measurement | 16 bits (1.52 10-5 Volts) |
| Maximum sampling rate | 1MHz |
| Differential Voltage (measurement ability) | YES |
| DC Input Current | 1 nA max |
| Sampling Capacitance | 10 pF max |
The system is capable to measure voltage difference at the poles of each cell (+ and -). Differential measurement can be performed between any two cells in the cluster. Total cluster voltage is expressed as the sum of the measurements of each cell.

SOFTWARE
Software standard version enables presentation onto a monitor screen the measured values of each channel and also plots graphs. Measurements are recorded in ASCII format. There is however the ability to change according to End User Customers requirements into others such as Access, Oracle, etc.
